I build things
that move people.

Irish entrepreneur. I started my first company at 16, moved to Vietnam to learn how things get made, and turned a sketch into Modmo — an ebike company that raised $10M and shipped 2,500 bikes across Europe. Today I'm building baz.

The Story

From a Dublin bedroom
to a factory in Saigon.

I've been building businesses since I was a kid. At 13, I funded my downhill mountain-biking habit by importing and refurbishing iPhones — about €20k a month — until I realised anyone could do it.

At 16 I founded Vital Fixies, a direct-to-consumer fixed-gear bike brand for Dublin's tech crowd. I borrowed against 165 bikes, undercut every shop in the city, and ran it solo for five years. Somewhere in there I got asked to leave school for poor attendance, taught myself in the local library, passed my Leaving Cert anyway, got into UCD — and left after four months.

I wanted to build the best bike in the world, and I couldn't do that from Ireland. So I flew to Shenzhen, then Vietnam, and found a factory. That bet became Modmo.

"I thought I could create the best bike in the world — so I went to where the best bikes get made."

Modmo set out to build the vehicle that replaces your car: a modular, GPS-tracked, 200km-range ebike. We went from a two-person concept video to 982 pre-orders from 27 countries, first shipments in early 2021, and a team of 65 across Dublin, Europe and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Journey

A life in chapters.

2010Age 13

First hustle

Importing and refurbishing iPhones to fund a downhill mountain-biking habit — scaling to ~€20k/month before walking away from a model with no moat.

2014Age 16

Vital Fixies

Founded a D2C fixed-gear bike brand for Dublin. 165 bikes, half the price of the shops, run single-handedly for five years.

2018

Go to where it's made

Left UCD and Ireland for Shenzhen and then Vietnam — chasing manufacturing partners who could build something genuinely new.

2020

Modmo is born

Launched a 3D concept of the Saigon ebike with a team of two. Ended the year with 982 pre-orders from 27 countries — €2M in pre-sales.

2021

Shipping & scaling

First bikes delivered. Raised toward $10M total, including backing from developer Sean Mulryan. Grew to 65 people across four countries; 2,500 bikes shipped across the EU.

2023

30,000km, no plan

After Modmo, I spent six months and 30,000km motorbike-camping across Southeast Asia — the best reset I've ever had.

Let's build something.

Founders, operators, investors, or anyone with a good idea and the appetite to ship it — I'm always up for a conversation.
